About The Position

SUMMARY: The In Process Inspector inspects wax patterns, wax clusters, and castings at various stages of the production process to ensure the product meets manufacturing and quality specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Inspects wax clusters: removes clusters from carts, inspects clusters for pin holes, voids, cuts, wax platter, incorrect FR identification and other defects using such tools as mirror, pen light straight, feeler gauge, etc; separates acceptable product from unacceptable; marks rejected areas with grease pencils or other tool; stamps accepted clusters. Inspects individual wax patterns for flow lines, cavitation, surface roughness, cracks, etc. Repairs wax defects as procedurally specified or required. Operates optical spectrograph to verify casting has been manufactured using the correct alloys. Examines tags, castings and components to verify correct stamping of alloy, heat numbers , or other information; segregates clusters with incorrect identification to ensure their return for correction; prepares tag identifying errors and places on clusters; notifies laboratory personnel concerning incorrect master heat numbers. Removes visible bow from blades and vanes, corrects twist, and/or removes stock to fit part into gauges, by using vise, hammer, arbor press, small hand grinder, abrasive belt polisher, pedestal grinder, etc. Changes belts and abrasive wheels as required. Occasionally obtains supplies needed for job from supply stores or storage. Straightens a large variety of different sized and shaped castings to pring dimensions by setting up and operating an Arbor or Hydraulic Press Checks work on a surface plate using feeler gauges, ID or OD calipers, height gauges, verniers, micrometers, dial indicators, and various casting gauges. Fills out routing cards as required Reports faulty processes and products to supervisor Keeps work area orderly and clean and performs other duties related to the job as directed by supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least one year manufacturing experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate production information both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to complete required production reports and SPC charts.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regular attendance and the ability to work weekday and weekend overtime.
