About the Role As a Reading Tutor at Braintrust Tutors, you'll work with students to strengthen their reading comprehension, vocabulary development, critical thinking, and writing skills. You'll provide engaging, consistent lessons using Braintrust Tutors curriculum and materials, helping students build literacy skills and confidence. Opportunity Details Start Date: Varies by Engagement | Applications are considered on a rolling basis Tutor Schedule: Varies by Engagement Typical Schedule/Availability Requirement: 12-14 weeks Approximately 3 days per week School-day hours
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Active or expired teaching license
- Experience with reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Comfort collaborating with teachers and staff
- Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions
- Reliable transportation and/or appropriate technology for instruction
- Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps
- PET's Clearance: Must be PET's cleared or willing to obtain PET's clearance via fingerprinting process (Braintrust Tutors will facilitate and pay); additional requirements vary by Engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide small-group or 1:1 reading tutoring to students developing literacy skills
- Implement Braintrust Tutors intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance
- Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth
- Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment that promotes focus and confidence
- Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence
- Use provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction
- Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities
