About The Position

This position is designated as 'remote'. However, the new hire will need to come for onboarding and hospital orientation in person.

Requirements

• Post High School Special Training.
• Credentials or equivalent through AHIMA or AAPC.
• Knowledge of basic and advanced ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding instructions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Verifiable training in coding systems, advanced medical and anatomical terminology, clinical theory, and reimbursement principles.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care coding, including Medicare, MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assign the appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes.
• Abstract pertinent clinical information for bill preparation for Inpatient, Rehabilitation, and some Coder II functions.
• Research and resolve coding/billing issues.
• Analyze the medical record for completeness, consistency, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
