About The Position

The position involves providing coverage for teachers in grades 6th - 12th and teaching subject areas according to the curriculum guidelines specified by the charter school. The role requires further development and refinement of a high-level, challenging curriculum in the subject area, as well as maintaining ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students. Collaboration with other faculty is essential to deliver appropriate instructional approaches and best practices, catering to various learning styles and needs of students. The candidate will implement curriculum and instruction in alignment with BACPS mission statement, fostering independent thinking skills, creative problem solving, and abstract reasoning. Additionally, the role includes facilitating positive and restorative resolutions of problems that may arise with students and/or parents, continuous and objective assessment of student performance, and developing cooperative partnerships with parents and students based on mutual respect. The candidate will also hold parent/student/teacher conferences, participate in professional development activities, attend staff meetings, and demonstrate awareness of school/community needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in applicable field of study/education from an accredited college or university
  • Have obtained an associate (or higher) degree
  • Have at least two years of post-secondary education that is equivalent to at least 48 credit hours from an accredited higher education institution
  • Have met a rigorous standard on one of the formal Massachusetts-endorsed Assessments: Parapro or WorkKeys
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process and expertise in a specific content area
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with challenge groups in a standards-based environment
  • Demonstrated success in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, community, and other school community staff
  • A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement

Responsibilities
