About the position

The purpose of this position is to perform land-related activities for oil and gas exploration and development, including, but not limited to oil and gas leasing, mineral purchasing, title curative, well-staking, waterline and well line easement acquisition, and ingress/egress at drilling locations. Responsible for researching, negotiating and acquiring land agreements for the purpose of oil and gas exploration, production and development that meet the organization's goals. Search for and determines various land ownership interests, including, but not limited to, mineral ownership and the locations of such owners. Work within the parameters set by the client insofar as negotiation terms. Draft contracts required to satisfy client requirements. Prepare adequate daily activity reports and special landman reports relative to complex negotiations, damage settlements, and/or title curative instruments. May work in the office or in the field. Perform internal and external due diligence to ensure accuracy and completeness of land rights or to identify and bring forward deficiencies requiring remedial action. Serve as liaison with the landowner on ownership, rights, damage claims, and access issues. Effectively use established company and client policies, procedures, and processes to perform work. Maintain up-to-date status with the Project Manager or client to ensure the assignment is completed following the client's procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of related professional sales/business experience or a degree in Energy Land Management.
  • Good understanding of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and real property acquisition policies.
  • Thorough understanding of various land-related contracts and agreements.
  • Proficient in MS Office products and databases.
  • Ability to plan and organize workload and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and report progress timely.
  • Must be ethical and honest in dealings with landowners and clients.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships.
  • Good judgment and experience handling confidential information.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Member in good standing with the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL).
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team player.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule.
