About The Position

Jordan’s Furniture is seeking an In Home Service Apprentice, also referred to as a Furniture Repair Technician. This role is ideal for individuals with an interest in furniture repair or a motivation to learn a new trade, coupled with strong customer service skills. Technicians are trained to perform a variety of furniture repairs, including stitching upholstery, wood and leather repairs, and fixing mechanisms in motion furniture, all within customers' homes. The position involves traveling to customer homes in company vans to conduct repairs and provide excellent customer service. This is a 4-month apprenticeship program, after which successful completion leads to a promotion. The role is based out of the New Haven, CT store, with initial training conducted at the Taunton, MA warehouse. During the training period, hours are Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, at the Taunton warehouse.

Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
Must have a valid license and possess a safe driving record
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively in difficult customer situations
Must have a positive and professional demeanor
Must maintain a professional appearance at all times

Responsibilities

Refinishes and patches damaged furniture including paint, stain, enamel or lacquers; mixes paints and stains to match existing finish
Repairs, replaces and rebuilds damaged leather or upholstery furniture or mechanical parts
Sets up and operates such tools as power drills, sanders, saws, and other tools required for repair
Completes repair related paperwork and other documentation as required
Safely drives company van to customers’ homes to assess and repair damaged furniture
Effectively educates and informs customers on repair techniques and/or warranty programs
