About The Position

At Dungarvin, we are a national provider of support services committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with mental health, behavioral, and complex medical needs. Our mission, since 1976, is to respect and respond to the choices of people in need of supports, empowering them to live meaningful lives on their own terms. Operating across fifteen states, we deliver flexible, high-quality services tailored to each individual’s goals, values, and aspirations through Medicaid and Community Support Waivers. This role is for a Direct Support Professional who is passionate about helping others establish a secure, positive environment that nurtures their needs, self-expression, and goals, providing “best-in-class” care for persons served. The position offers quality paid job training and a safe work environment, and it is not a residential group home position.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Current auto liability insurance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Education, training, and/or experience outside of high school in a related area
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Be mindful of resident’s disabilities in an empathetic manner
  • Encourage residents to live independent and productive lives
  • Assist with personal care needs
  • Administer medication
  • Perform housekeeping duties
  • Advance residents’ decision-making
  • Advance residents’ productivity
  • Promote participation in a range of activities
  • Promote meaningful interactions between residents and the community
  • Serve as an advocate for the entire community with disabilities
