Requirements

  • 3–8+ years hands-on In-Building/DAS RF design across enterprise/venue environments.
  • Proficiency with iBwave (Level 2/3) and carrier design guidelines; strong grasp of propagation in complex indoor spaces.
  • Practical fiber knowledge: OTDR/OLTS, loss/power budgets, and optical distribution planning.
  • Comfort with test data: CW/grid, scanner logs, PIM/VSWR/sweep results; converting data into actionable design updates.
  • Technology stack: LTE/5G (NSA/SA) fundamentals, small cell/neutral-host architectures, uplink constraints, MIMO, CBRS basics.
  • Clear, complete deliverables: design reports, BOM, MOP, and CO documentation.
  • Excellent communication with carriers, GCs, and venue stakeholders; proven remote collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Public Safety DAS/ERRCS design & acceptance (IFC 510, NFPA 72, NFPA 1225), BDAs, donor isolation, DAQ.
  • Stadium/arena, hospital, airport, or transit-system experience.
  • Scripting/automation (Excel/Python) for link budgets, naming, or prediction runs; Tableau/Power BI for KPI visuals.
  • OEM familiarity (CommScope/TE, ADRF, SOLiD, JMA, Corning, Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung).
  • Certifications: iBwave Level 2/3, Cel-Fi Public Safety, OSHA-10/30, FCC GROL (plus).

Responsibilities

  • Own iBwave designs (L2/L3): venue modeling, prediction tuning, link budgets, heatmaps, and design reports.
  • Engineer fiber-fed DAS/small cell: SM/MM fiber planning, loss/power budgets, splitter/attenuator chains, head-end to remotes.
  • Plan & validate RF: CW planning, grid testing setup, scanner routes, acceptance thresholds, and mitigation strategies.
  • Turn-up & optimize: PIM/VSWR/sweep interpretation, uplink noise hunting, PCI/PSC planning input, KPI tuning (RSRP/SINR/RSRQ/UL).
  • Deliver documentation: BOMs, MOPs, method statements, redlines, as-builts, and complete closeout packages.
  • Partner & coordinate: interface with carriers, AHJs, SIs, and OEMs; manage design reviews and change control.
  • Quality & safety: apply code and standards (e.g., IFC 510/NFPA 72 for Public Safety DAS), grounding, labeling, and test traceability.
  • (Senior) Mentor & review: guide junior designers, perform peer reviews, and improve design templates and macros.
