The Import / Export Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing international shipments in compliance with all applicable import and export regulations. This role ensures accurate documentation, timely customs clearance, cost-effective transportation, and adherence to trade compliance requirements to support uninterrupted global supply chain operations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in import/export operations or trade compliance
  • Strong understanding of international trade laws, customs procedures, HS codes, and tariff systems
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. import and export regulations
  • Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple cases.
  • Familiarity with international trade software.
  • Experience with Incoterms 2020
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit import/export documents (customs invoices, certificates of origin, etc.)
  • Manage and oversee import and export of goods.
  • Ensure accurate product classification (HTS codes), country of origin determination, and valuation
  • Ensure adherence to domestic and international customs laws, tariffs, and trade regulations, monitor changes.
  • Coordinate customs clearance with brokers.
  • Monitor shipment status and resolve delays, holds, or discrepancies
  • File Electronic Export Information (EEI) via AES when required
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Finance, and external partners
  • Back-office support for Sales Management for preparation of Sales Quotation
  • Process Purchase Orders from customers for capital equipment.
