About The Position

The Import Coordinator at Weida Freight System, Inc. is responsible for managing customer service and operations related to import freight activities. This role ensures compliance with US Customs and industry standards while maintaining efficient processes for air and sea freight shipments. The Import Coordinator will report to the Import Supervisor and is expected to meet or exceed customer service expectations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of related experience or educational equivalent
  • Freight and logistics knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
  • Full knowledge of Air and Ocean operation procedures and compliance
  • Ability to work well with customers and in a team environment
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree preferred
  • Professional qualification (customs house broker license, etc.)
  • Business related qualification (transportation/logistics societies, etc.)
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in International forwarding

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer service and operations for all import freight activities.
  • Maintain efficient processes associated with air and sea freight shipments.
  • Arrange pick-ups, deliveries, and transportation of import freight.
  • Record and maintain files of pick-up/delivery information and communications with brokers.
  • Communicate with brokers regarding delivery information and monitor trucks.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors.
  • Create timely records and ensure prompt rating and invoicing of files.
  • Provide prompt import quotations to customers and sales personnel.
  • Follow all hazardous, US Import Customs, IATA, and FMC regulations.
  • Ensure agents' shipments are completed promptly with daily updates.
  • Work with station managers to set standards and metrics for performance.
  • Negotiate rates and fees with subcontracts.
  • Occasionally complete light warehouse work including operating a forklift.
