About The Position

The position involves compiling and preparing commercial regulatory documents for entry processing, ensuring compliance with US customs regulations, and coordinating the release of goods from carriers and governmental agencies. The role requires interfacing with U.S. Customs and other federal agencies, providing consultation to clients on importation processes, and overseeing the import staff's performance and training. Additionally, the position includes establishing recordkeeping standards, maintaining high levels of client service, and keeping abreast of emerging technology changes in the industry.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in International Business, Transportation, Finance or related discipline preferred
  • Must possess a valid Customs Broker License
  • Five to 10 Years industry Experience
  • 5+ years of supervisory or managerial experience required
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Intermediate Computer Skills

Responsibilities

  • Compile and prepare commercial regulatory documents for entry processing
  • Coordinate and confirm release while operating in compliance with US customs regulations
  • Assist in the release of goods from carriers and governmental agency examinations
  • Monitor independent company designated U.S. Customs brokers for proper declarations
  • Interface with U.S. Customs and federal agencies to ensure compliance with laws and regulations
  • Provide consultation to clients on importation of goods and governmental regulations
  • Review and ensure import performance and transit time analysis reports are distributed
  • Provide guidance and training to import staff on client service and documentation management
  • Establish recordkeeping standards and oversee file maintenance
  • Ensure high levels of client service for internal and external clients
  • Utilize communication skills to motivate staff and develop relationships with peers and clients
  • Oversee and manage professional development and productivity of staff members
  • Conduct bi-yearly performance reviews for all staff within the department
  • Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations
  • Ensure data critical to supply chain initiatives is maintained and updated
  • Perform any other responsibilities required for complying with U.S. Customs & Border Protection
  • Complete other duties as assigned
