We are seeking an Implementation Project Manager (Construction) to lead the planning and execution of projects involving establishment of Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS), Virtual Weather Observing Systems (VWOS), and the Weather Camera Program (WCAM) throughout Alaska. The role focuses on ensuring successful implementation, integration, and sustainment of weather systems that directly support FAA operations and aviation safety in Alaska. The Project Manager manages all activities for multiple small projects, or multiple subtasks of larger projects or programs, in accordance with approved Task Orders. This includes directing and coordinating internal resources or subcontractor activities in accordance with project/client procedures, scope of work, and contract specifications. Periodic travel to job sites and to client offices for meetings is expected.

  • Manage end-to-end implementation of AWOS, VWOS, and WCAM projects, from planning through operational acceptance.
  • Develop and oversee detailed project scope of work (SOW) documents, schedules, budgets, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, logistics, and training.
  • Develop project documents, processes, and procedures required to support quality control and final project deliverables.
  • Act as the primary interface with FAA stakeholders and local site operators on system readiness and execution.
  • Collaborate with procurement staff for acquisition of qualified vendors for supply support or onsite tasks as required to meet project objectives.
  • Plan materials requirements, identify long lead items, and work with purchasing staff to coordinate supply support for field teams.
  • Oversee site preparation, installation, integration, and system testing activities across multiple remote locations.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA safety, performance, and environmental standards.
  • Provide timely project reporting and status updates to leadership and FAA stakeholders.
  • Oversee site preparation, installation, and transition to operations.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management and at least 10+ years of project management experience in construction, aviation, weather systems, or mission-critical technology programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading construction/installation projects in geographically dispersed or remote environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
  • Experience with FAA weather observation systems (AWOS, VWOS) and weather camera networks (WCAM).
  • Candidate located in Alaska currently or have prior work in Alaska or similar operational environments with challenging logistics.
