Zus is a shared health data platform designed to accelerate healthcare data interoperability by providing easy-to-use patient data via API, embedded components, and direct EHR integrations. Founded in 2021 by Jonathan Bush, co-founder and former CEO of athenahealth, Zus partners with HIEs and other data networks to aggregate patient clinical history and then translates that history into user-friendly information at the point of care. Zus's mission is to catalyze healthcare's greatest inventors by maximizing the value of patient insights - so that they can build up, not around. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Implementation Engineer to drive onboarding and integration efforts for our customers. Experience in the healthcare interoperability space is a huge plus. In this pivotal role, you will develop, execute, and manage implementation plans, ensuring that our customers successfully integrate Zus products to be set up for long term success. You will be the Zus expert and technical point of contact for customers during their onboarding, leading with best practice, guiding customers through set up and scale of Zus solutions, and advocating for their needs within Zus Health. This role is critical in ensuring our clients achieve maximum value from our solutions through expert project management, cross-functional coordination, and exceptional customer engagement. The ideal candidate is the right balance between being a technical doer and strategic thinker with a passion for delivering stellar customer experiences. They are hungry to make a difference at a growth-stage startup and are comfortable navigating the technical complexities of data interoperability in healthcare.

  • Host regular progress reviews and technical deep dives with new customers
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including product development and account management, to ensure alignment and effective communication
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure that the product or service is configured and integrated according to client requirements
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for clients to ensure they are fully equipped to use our products effectively
  • 7+ years of experience in technical implementation, solutions engineering, or systems integration—preferably in a healthtech, SaaS, or enterprise software environment
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data standards and protocols (FHIR, HL7, CCD) and experience integrating with EMRs (e.g., Epic, Cerner, athenahealth)
  • Hands-on experience with APIs and data ingestion pipelines (ETL, JSON, CSV)
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms and tools (e.g., Snowflake), including database schema design and query optimization
  • Proficient in technical debugging and problem solving across application and data layers
  • Data scripting programming skills (preferably, Python)
  • SQL programming skills
  • Experience with secure environments and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2)
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex concepts effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills including the ability to work collaboratively and influence cross-functional teams
  • A self-starter attitude that shows that you are ready for the fast, and sometimes unstructured, nature of a growth-stage startup
  • Passion for improving healthcare in the US
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to customer engagements, industry events and company meetings
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Competitive compensation that reflects the value you bring to the team a combination of cash and equity
