About The Position

The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses. This position is with the Building Codes Division (BCD). BCD adopts and enforces the statewide building code relating to the construction, reconstruction, alteration and repair of buildings and other structures and the installation of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical devices and equipment. This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union (AFSCME).

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of information systems experience working with a variety IT/ software products and programs in an in-depth fashion OR An associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information systems experience working with a variety IT/ software products and programs in an in-depth fashion OR A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience working with a variety IT/ software products and programs in an in-depth fashion OR A master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

Responsibilities

  • As an Implementation and Program Support Specialist, you will provide a full range of application development services to assigned business units for all sizes of projects.
  • You will plan and then either perform or coordinate the following application development services:
  • Requirements gathering
  • Business and technical analysis
  • Application and system design
  • Procurement coordination
  • Technical specification development
  • Program development
  • Database creation
  • Application testing
  • User training
  • Deployment coordination
  • Ongoing customer support.
