About The Position

Kanbe’s Markets is a quickly-growing 501(c)3 fighting food insecurity and mitigating large-scale food waste by rescuing perfectly good food that would be headed to the landfill, and redirecting it into low-access communities through partnerships with over 100+ local small food retailers and 52+ community organizations. In just nine years, Kanbe’s has redirected millions of pounds of food that would otherwise be wasted, reinvested over $260,000 back into the local community through its unique revenue-sharing model, today serving approximately 250,000 Kansas Citians with fresh food access. Building strong donor relationships and deepening engagement with Kansas City’s incredible philanthropic community is vital to the expansion of Kanbe’s mission. As Kanbe’s continues to grow its operational efforts and impact, increasing the fresh food it is able to rescue and get back into the community to 3 million pounds in 2026, the organization is looking for a thoughtful and motivated leader to cultivate and steward relationships with major investors to the organization and oversee and manage a portfolio of these donors. This position will be responsible for attaining a $400,000 annual fundraising goal in 2026, focusing on securing donations between $1,000 and $7,500. As Impact Giving Manager, you will be to be responsible for: leading and deepening relationships with existing investors of Kanbe’s mission and curating an exceptional donor experience; finding and connecting with new potential contacts; creating a clear channel for introducing new individuals to the organization (including leading tours, scheduling coffees, etc.); meticulously tracking all touchpoints with individual donors in Virtuous CRM and HubSpot; developing creative and personalized touchpoints for their portfolio; and leading the logistical planning and day-of execution of key series fundraising events such as Ugly Dinners and Ugly Happy Hours. This role is based in Kansas City, MO and is part of the Kanbe’s Development team, reporting to the Director of Strategic Development.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in the people-side of a revenue earning operation (Fundraising, Sales, and/or Business Development).
  • Understands the fundamentals of building lasting relationships.
  • Willingness to go above and beyond for building relationships and cultivating and stewarding connections.
  • Experience managing CRM systems (such as Hubspot).
  • Passion for curating meaningful engagements with people and speaking on behalf of a mission-driven organization.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enjoys a quick-paced workplace and managing multiple tasks at once.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deepen relationships with existing investors of Kanbe’s mission and curating an exceptional donor experience.
  • Create a clear channel for introducing new individuals to the organization (including leading tours, scheduling coffees, etc.)
  • Manage all communications with their portfolio, and implement a weekly, monthly, and quarterly process for managing outreach.
  • Build a process for new donors to the organization who give between $1,000 and $7,500 annually.
  • Meticulously track all touchpoints with individual donors in Virtuous CRM and HubSpot.
  • Developing creative and highly personalized touchpoints and engagements for their portfolio.
  • Lead the logistical planning and day-of execution of key series fundraising events such as Ugly Dinners and Ugly Happy Hours.
  • Portfolio Management: Lead fundraising initiatives for assigned portfolio of donors and expand portfolio as needed.
  • One-to-One Communication: Develop communication strategy with portfolio and work to invite individual contributors on tours, to events, happy hours, etc.
  • Gift Solicitation: Solicit and collect donations to support the mission of Kanbe’s.
  • Process/Procedure Development: Set a precedent for how relationships should be managed with this group of donors, and codify processes into actionable, replicable steps.
  • Event Planning: Oversees the logistical planning and day-of execution of key series fundraising events such as Ugly Dinners and Ugly Happy Hours.
  • Event Strategy: Leans in on event planning as needed, and communicates event update to their portfolio regularly.
