About The Position

The Impact Coach ensures that participants successfully access the opportunities Rubicon and our partner organizations have to offer. The Impact Coach learns and taps into each participant’s history, skills, vision, and needs, to support them as they chart their own course out of poverty. Relationships are critical to overcoming obstacles and accomplishing ambitious goals. As the primary relationship for participants throughout the Rubicon experience – from intake to graduation - the Impact Coach develops a trusting, collaborative and encouraging relationship with participants. By elevating and affirming participants’ values and goals, the Impact Coach keeps them motivated and coaches them to identify solutions when they encounter challenges and setbacks. The Impact Coach models productive attitudes, habits and behaviors, and partners extensively with other members of the Rubicon team to advance participants’ success. We are seeking an Impact Coach who, in addition to the competencies detailed below, is innovative, takes initiative, and possesses a tolerance for ambiguity.

Requirements

  • Proactive in Furthering Justice and Inclusion: Expertise in the multiple, complex obstacles to prosperity for people in poverty; solid understanding of social, institutional, and systemic causes of poverty; and a strong sense of cultural accountability.
  • Service Quality: Working knowledge of motivational interviewing, coaching, and trauma-informed care principles desired.
  • Accountability: Relationship building, interpersonal flexibility, open-mindedness, and growth mindset.
  • Communication and Tech Capable: Skillful teamwork and leadership, solid organizational abilities, attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills including use of technology.
  • This position requires occasional travel to appointments and other Rubicon meetings; if the employee opts to meet these travel requirements by driving, proof of a valid and current driver license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.

Responsibilities

  • Case management: Includes fostering participant engagement and motivation, conducting assessments to identify service needs in the areas of behavioral health and housing, de-escalating behavioral health crises as needed, individualized service plan development and continuous updating, tracking and documenting participant progress against the plan, developing new relationships with outside resources to meet participant needs, and eliciting participant feedback regularly regarding service needs and satisfaction.
  • Service coordination and leadership: Includes organizing and facilitating case conferences or other appropriate communication among all team members regarding participant progress and service needs, transmitting information from and about participant to other team members accurately and in a timely manner, and ensuring participants access needed services from Rubicon’s financial, legal, career and wellness teams and with community partners and coordinating multi-disciplinary services overall.
  • Communication and Tech Capable: Skillful teamwork and leadership, solid organizational abilities, attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills including use of technology.
