About The Position

The Teacher, ELD position at Sargent Shriver Elementary School focuses on providing English language development instruction to students identified as eligible for ELD services. Requirements

• Valid Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD.

• Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques.
• Ability to work effectively with school staff in organizing and implementing the ELD program.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide English language development (ELD) instruction for eligible students.
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and other staff regarding individual EML students.
• Serve as a resource for information on cultural and linguistic differences and the ELD instructional program.
• Explain the ELD instructional program to parents and provide support as needed.
• Assist students in adjusting to the academic and cultural environment of MCPS.
