About The Position

The Student Culture Liaison at Milt and Debbie Valera Middle School plays a crucial role in supervising and supporting student behavior on campus. This position aims to foster a positive student culture by implementing social-emotional systems and supports, ensuring adherence to school rules, and promoting healthy interactions among students, staff, and the community.

Requirements

  • Associate of Arts degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in human development, psychology, education, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Ability to commit to school events on weekends and evenings.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields may be considered without related work experience.
  • Candidates with a High School diploma may be considered with at least five (5) years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop appropriate interpersonal relationships with students to earn their respect and cooperation in following school rules and appropriate behavioral expectations.
  • Assist in supervising student activity areas during break and lunch periods.
  • Assist in general supervision of the campus, focusing on discipline and student behavioral expectations by communicating and enforcing school policies and procedures.
  • Report incidents to administrators where and when appropriate.
  • Intervene to deter and modify inappropriate student behaviors of a relatively minor nature.
  • Positively interact with parents and other members of the school community.
  • Maintain data for school-wide behavior systems, positive behavior systems, and individual behavior support plans.
  • Support planning and execution of school-wide behavior response systems (after-school detention, restorative meetings, reflections, Saturday School) and positive behavior celebrations.
  • Support the Dean of Students and Assistant Principal with investigations related to student behavior incidents.
  • Schedule and facilitate restorative meetings between students.
  • Join administrative team members on Home Visits for student support.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
