About The Position

The Instructional Aide assists teachers in the supervision and instructional support of students. This role involves working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning material or skills introduced by the teacher, operating and caring for equipment or instructional materials used in the classroom, and helping students master these materials. The Instructional Aide will also distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and instructional materials as directed by the teacher, guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work, and assist with the supervision of students during meals, emergency drills, assemblies, break periods, or field trips. Additional responsibilities include providing information and assistance to substitute teachers, participating in staff development, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Two years of college (48 units), or an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college (or higher), or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
  • At least 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Official transcripts will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning material or skills introduced by the teacher.
  • Operate and care for equipment or instructional materials used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
  • Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
  • Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and/or instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during meals, emergency drills, assemblies, break periods, or field trips.
  • Assist with supervision of daily routines and schedules.
  • Provide information and assistance to a substitute teacher should one be assigned.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development as required to ensure professional growth.
  • Participate in staff meetings as required by job assignment.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
