About The Position

KIPP Indy is seeking a dynamic and passionate Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to cultivating a love for reading and writing in students while providing rigorous instruction that develops critical thinking and analytical skills. This role requires a teacher who can create an engaging learning environment, deliver effective lessons, and use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.

Requirements

Valid Indiana teaching license or in the process of applying for reciprocity with a valid out-of-state license (required).
Bachelor’s degree in education, English, or a related field (required).
Pass a criminal background check, as required by law (required).
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Cultural competency and the ability to create inclusive learning environments.
Passion for equity and belief in the potential of all students.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in ELA (preferred).
Strong understanding of literacy development and the ability to cultivate a love of reading and writing in students.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons in reading, writing, and literacy that foster critical thinking and a love of literature.
Incorporate diverse texts and culturally responsive teaching practices to create an inclusive classroom that reflects the experiences of all students.
Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Foster a classroom environment that promotes discussion, collaboration, and a deep appreciation for literature and the power of language.
Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior, while providing appropriate support to ensure every student’s success.
Establish and maintain strong communication with families to support student learning and build a strong school community.
Collaborate with colleagues and academic coaches to enhance curriculum and teaching practices and to ensure alignment with school-wide goals.
Embrace feedback and work with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices and professional development.
Take ownership of your own professional growth by seeking opportunities for learning and self-improvement.
