About The Position
The Long-Term Substitute Kindergarten Teacher at Whetstone Elementary School is responsible for planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for students under the direction of the school principal. This role is crucial in creating an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students, ensuring that every child achieves success. The teacher will supervise students in various school-related settings, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, and maintain effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the community. In this position, the teacher will develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to cater to the diverse needs of all students. It is essential to maintain appropriate records and adhere to required procedures and practices. The teacher will also be responsible for monitoring the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the MCPS curriculum and effective instructional practices, as well as the ability to integrate technology into the curriculum. The role requires excellent communication and human relations skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, and the community. Knowledge of the performance standards established for the Montgomery County Public Schools Teacher Professional Growth System is also necessary.
