About The Position

Overview Utilizes radiographic techniques to obtain diagnostic images. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions · Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific radiographs. · Prepares patients for x-rays, explaining procedure, transferring patient to table, positioning patient and assisting patient at the end of the procedures. · Applies immobilization devices as needed. · Uses 2 patient identifiers excluding pt. room number. · Provides protection (lead shielding) in accordance with prescribed safety standards. · Administers contrast media with physician approval. · Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination. · Assists in the clinical and/or didactics for the School of Radiologic Technology. · Transports patients to/from the floor if needed. · Staff is required to have a face to face handoff with the patient’s nurse utilizing the ticket to ride. · Handoff must also take place when the patient transitions from one caregiver to another. · Prepares medication per each Physicians orders and labels all solutions/medications as required by TJC. · Adhere to all Joint Commission standards. · Become proficient with hospital and department clinical information systems by QC'ing all images, completing exams, and documenting contrast (tech comments) and pertinent patient history (tech comments) on all exams. · Must follow equipment handling guidelines. · Must keep all equipment in good working order and use it appropriately especially the digital portables/ports. · Clean equipment as outlined in the cleaning policy for Imaging Services. · Ensures the Imaging Department is ready at all times for any inspection or risk mapping. · Abides by the HH and Imaging Services Policy and Procedures. (i.e.: time and attendance, smoking policy). · Always use an approved hand antiseptic when you enter / exit a patient’s room or before / after you have contact with a patient. · Always wash your hands with SOAP AND WATER when interacting with a patient on isolation / C-diff precautions or when your hands are visibly dirty. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience Education Required · High School Diploma or GED required. · Graduate of Accredited Radiology Program required. Education Preferred License, Certification and/or Registration · Successful completion of the (ARRT) national certification exam required within 1 year of hire · BLS certification required within 90 days of hire. Experience · None required. Additional Skills/Abilities · Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Accredited Radiology Program required.
  • Successful completion of the (ARRT) national certification exam required within 1 year of hire
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
