About The Position

The PRN Radiologic Technologist assigned to the Pain Management Department provides high-quality imaging support for interventional pain procedures utilizing fluoroscopic guidance. This role is responsible for safe and effective operation of imaging equipment, optimal image acquisition, and collaboration with physicians, nursing, and anesthesia staff to ensure efficient patient care. Although primarily assigned to Pain Management, the technologist may be asked to float to other imaging areas as operational needs arise. Schedule PRN (as needed) Approximately 2–4 days per week No weekends

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT (R) certification required.
  • Active Arkansas Radiologic Technologist license required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be maintained.
  • Experience working with fluoroscopy strongly preferred.
  • Prior Pain Management or interventional procedure experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of radiation safety and imaging best practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and wear lead protective equipment during procedures.
  • Ability to safely position and assist patients as needed.
  • Exposure to radiation in a controlled clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate GE C-arm fluoroscopy equipment to support interventional pain procedures, including but not limited to: Epidural steroid injections Medial branch blocks Radiofrequency ablations Joint injections Discograms Spinal cord stimulator trials Kyphoplasty
  • Position patients accurately to obtain optimal fluoroscopic images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Assist physicians during procedures by adjusting imaging parameters, properly collimating, and optimizing image quality.
  • Ensure radiation safety practices are followed for patients, providers, and staff in accordance with ALARA principles.
  • Assist with maintaining a sterile field as required during procedures.
  • Prepare procedure rooms, including equipment setup, supplies, and post-procedure breakdown.
  • Verify patient identity, procedure, and imaging orders prior to imaging.
  • Provide clear instructions and reassurance to patients before and during procedures.
  • Monitor patients for comfort and safety during imaging.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and compassion when interacting with patients and family members.
  • Accurately document imaging studies and procedural details in the electronic medical record or RIS/PACS.
  • Comply with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance, equipment checks, and radiation safety monitoring as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other clinical team members.
  • Float to other imaging areas when needed to support departmental operations.
  • Maintain imaging equipment and report any malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
