About The Position

IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST I The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40%25 of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses. The Multi-modality Technologist II will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40%25 of the time in the second modalities. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality (Technologist I)
  • Three (3) Years’ Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality (Technologist II)
  • One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality (Technologist II)
  • Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - (ARRT)(R), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Two (2) Certifications from one or more of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (Technologist II)
  • Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.
  • American Heart Association BLS.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred
  • Three - six months experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality (Technologist I)
  • Experience and/or Registry in Computed Tomography (CT)
