About The Position

The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty department of Radiology is seeking an Imaging Technologist to perform and teach specialized general diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam. Perform general radiography procedures in multiple areas within the hospital including Adult and Pediatric Radiology, Dexa, emergency room, OR, fluoroscopy and orthopedic clinic. The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus opened in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility is home to UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient, and surgical venues. This state-of-the-art clinical facility also includes a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. This facility has been designed to support a superior patient and staff experience; excellence across our patient care, teaching, and research missions; convenient access to services; and engaging community partnerships. Requirements

  • Requires Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.
  • Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiography procedures using a variety of imaging equipment.
  • Operate fixed and portable radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic imaging studies.
  • Provide instruction to trainees, students and other medical staff on operation and safety precautions.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of key Service Excellence principles for interactions with patients and staff.
  • Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
  • Utilize standard safety precautions to minimize or eliminate risks to patients, personnel, and equipment.
  • Prepare and administer contrast material to patients under radiologist’s supervision as required.
