Ambulatory Health Care Services

Performs a complete range of basic clinical services as well as billing and clerical skills within the scope of department needs under the direction of a registered technologist. Responsibilities include greeting receiving and preparing patients; maintaining the examination areas; receiving and screening telephone calls patient positioning IV placement and verifying patient PPID.

  • Prepares patient for procedure positions patient on the exam table. (May assist patient with changing clothes etc.)
  • Checks for the appropriate clinical indication for the procedure ordered and ensures patient has completed all forms before the procedure begins.
  • Loads contrast into pressure injector per technologist and manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Cleans up used supplies linen and equipment after each procedure.
  • Monitors par levels of medical supplies office supplies and linen daily to ensure adequate levels are maintained throughout the department.
  • Sets up trays supplies and saline solutions used in procedures while maintaining a sterile field.
  • Monitors no show ambulatory list calling patient in adequate time frame as a friendly reminder also verifying patients' appointments instructions.
  • Maintains records and forms in the department.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies to ensure adequate supply levels are stocked.
  • Acts as liaison between radiology department and other departments as necessary.
  • Provides coverage at the reception desk as needed by providing telephone coverage greeting patients directing visitors and scheduling patients for examinations if necessary.
  • Monitors the schedule and patient wait times.
  • Notifies technical staff when patient wait is more than 15 minutes beyond the schedule appointment time and explains delay(s) to the patient.
  • Transports patient when needed.
  • Participates in making reminder calls to patients for future appointments.
  • Performs venipuncture
  • Performs daily quality assurance on medical equipment and monitors the environments to ensure compliance with regulatory/safety standards
  • Appropriately uses and documents in all Radiology and Hospital Information Systems as directed
  • Ensures patient safety in all MRI Safety Zones
  • High School Diploma or GED with preferred additional training or experience in the medical field required
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
  • Less than 1 year 0 to 6 months experience required
  • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
  • Requires the ability to read and write; knowledge of grammar and arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
  • May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e. computers data terminal on-line printer calculator telephone facsimile copier sterilizing equipment glucose meters thermometers dynamaps).
