About The Position

The Imaging Supervisor supports the Imaging Manager by providing day-to-day leadership, coordination, and oversight of cardiac imaging services across multiple modalities—including Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and the Stress Lab. This position ensures excellent patient care, operational efficiency, adherence to regulatory standards, and a highly functioning technical imaging team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Healthcare, Imaging Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred).
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Technology, or Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Active certification: ARDMS (e.g., RDCS) OR ARRT (RT(N) or CNMT), based on modality.
  • Current state licensure/certification (if required).
  • BLS certification (required).
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in a cardiac or acute care setting.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and imaging physics.
  • Excellent communication, leadership presence, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with PACS and EMR systems.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year in a lead or supervisory role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily workflow, staffing assignments, and scheduling to ensure efficient patient throughput and minimal wait times.
  • Adjust daily schedules based on urgent add-ons, staffing needs, or equipment availability.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and mentorship to cardiac sonographers and radiologic technologists.
  • Participate in performance evaluations, new-hire onboarding, and ongoing competency training.
  • Serve as the primary resource for resolving technical questions and minor conflicts.
  • Monitor and audit daily imaging studies to ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., ICAEL/ICANL, ACR).
  • Maintain and verify accuracy of all quality control logs and documentation.
  • Assist with radiation safety compliance, including dosimetry and internal audits following ALARA principles.
  • Ensure staff adherence to all standardized imaging protocols and patient safety procedures.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and training on best practices and imaging techniques.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance or repairs with vendors.
  • Maintain adequate levels of supplies such as contrast agents, gels, and clinical consumables.
  • Maintain clinical competency and perform imaging procedures during peak times, complex cases, or staff shortages.
  • Lead by example as a working supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
