About The Position

The Imaging Services Assistant provides support in the operation of the Radiology department. Under general supervision, and according to established procedures, and depending on area(s) of expertise and assignment, the Imaging Services Assistant is responsible for maintaining record flow, patient flow, and processes in the Radiology department. The Radiology Services Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer services to the Bronson organization to patients and employees. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate direct competencies specific to the population served. Work which produces very high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g. CRT work 90 percent of the time, and work involving extremely close tolerances and considerable hand/eye coordination for sustained periods of time.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work their scheduled weekend shift as required by their department.
  • Must be able to work assigned holidays on a rotational schedule.
  • Must be willing to assist in covering shifts for vacations.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months related customer service work experience required.
  • BLS certification is required within the first 90 days and will be maintained every quarter thereafter.
  • General medical terminology knowledge.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment, sharing tasks to ensure completion.
  • Strong technical aptitude with diverse software experience
  • Users must demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft applications

  • Have a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately communicates appointment instructions and reminders to patients.
  • Ensure stock is replenished in the work area.
  • Send out, pick up, and deliver mail throughout radiology departments during weekdays.
  • Assist patients, family, and visitors in navigating throughout the campus.
  • Able to navigate patients throughout the campus efficiently and safely.
  • Knowledge of unit locations and procedures.
  • Be up to date on all Bronson and department policies.
  • Handles all incoming calls to Radiology department and routes appropriately.
  • Prepare results for providers and patients for mail out.
  • Reviews all incoming faxes for Radiology and correctly route orders, reports, documentation, and process record requests
  • MRI assistants will help check in and prep patient prior to their exam.
  • Monitors multiple modalities in the Radiology environment (applications and hardware) according to daily workflows.
  • Effectively communicates with clinical staff to obtain correct information and orders to allow the Radiology department to provide excellent and timely care.
  • Gathers and analyzes medical records from outside facilities to support clinical decisions.
  • Ability to accurately record, track, and communicate critical results to the care team under strict time guidelines.
  • Delivers compassionate care while upholding professional standards and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ensure accuracy by detecting and resolving common issues in imaging workflows.
  • Will ensure precise adherence to imaging protocols for all diagnostic tests.
  • Facilitates scheduling to guarantee language access for patients requiring interpretation.
  • Coordinates the transfer of patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations in a timely manner.
  • Imports patient medical records (including disks, documents, and images) into Epic and PACS.
  • Audits PACS system for outstanding un-resulted exams.
  • Monitors system wide ER (Read and Call, Hold) exams so they are read and reported in a timely manner.
  • Prepares documentation for system wide protocoling for CT and MRI. Prepares additional system safety documentation for MRI.
  • Directly assists Bronson First in obtaining records urgently for critical incoming patients.
  • Works closely with the provider team to ensure all necessary information is available to deliver accurate and timely reports.
  • Ability to conduct routine upkeep on result printers and disk printers.
  • Conducts screening interviews for patient’s CT and MRI.
  • Reviews and works protocol lists for CT, MRI, and PETCT to verify orders are correct.
  • Verifies patients have completed necessary lab work prior to exams be required timeframes.
  • Is well versed and follows all radiation safety procedures.
