About The Position

Varex Imaging Inc., the world’s largest supplier of X-ray imaging components used in devices such as computed tomography (CT) scanners and cargo inspection systems, is seeking an enthusiastic imaging scientist to perform Monte Carlo modeling of X-ray transport in diagnostic imaging systems and to investigate methods to address the modeled nonlinearities in CT reconstructions. You will join a team that develops pre-processing and reconstruction software for direct and indirect detectors.

Requirements

  • Physics of X-ray photon transport
  • CT calibration and reconstruction prinicipals
  • Numerical methods and optimization techniques
  • C++, Matlab or Python
  • X-ray and CBCT lab experience
  • Ph.D or Masters Student in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Cloud computing
  • GEANT4

Responsibilities

  • Model x-ray and charge transport in photon counting detectors using GEANT4 and other tools.
  • Model x-ray transport (primary and scatter) through the human anatomy.
  • Acquire experimental data.
  • Investigate the impacts of detector nonlinearities on CT reconstructions, and investigate possible remediations.
  • Perform DQE simulations.
