The position involves receiving requests for imaging exams and acquiring pre-certification if needed. The individual will obtain pertinent medical history and medical necessity to compile for Radiologist protocol review. It is essential to ensure that orders are correct and to communicate any recommended order changes from the Radiologist to clinical teams. The role requires maintaining knowledge of patient prep instructions based on the imaging modality and exam ordered, as well as providing patients and family members with appropriate education and instruction. The individual will screen patients for contraindications, schedule patients, and coordinate imaging appointments for patients outside of InterMed when necessary, performing follow-up to ensure these exams are scheduled and completed. Additionally, the role includes answering and triaging incoming calls, requesting outside records when needed, and understanding/utilizing all electronic and computer systems, including basic troubleshooting. Participation in the onboarding of new team members and additional duties as requested by management staff are also part of the job.
