About The Position

Purpose of the Imaging Record Specialist: Perform file room/related PACS duties for Radiology Department. Demonstrate good patient, hospital staff, and referring physician customer service. Promote the mission and vision of the Department of Radiology and UPMC. Responsibilities: Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required. This position requires written and verbal communications (both one-on-one and telephone) skills. Will be in contact with the entire hospital staff, referring physicians and their office staffs, patients and family members on a daily basis. Exhibit a positive and professional image through interaction with patients, physicians, supervisors, coworkers and peers. Comply with all Radiology and Institutional policies. Monitor and secure supplies for the division and demonstrate and awareness of appropriate resource management. Participate in any Quality Assurance or Performance Improvement projects as assigned. Demonstrate competency for Film/File Coordinator coverage in reading room. Assist Diagnostic modality with document scanning into PACS. Hang films and /or digitize old exams into PACS for interpretation. Deliver and pick up films from the appropriate areas. Prepare CDs/films for sign out or to be mailed. Monitoring PACS unread list for any necessary comparison correlation. Perform any required film file jacket maintenance as needed. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Answer, redirect telephone calls and take messages. Maintain a working knowledge of all necessary computer systems.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

  • Filing knowledge preferred.
  • Computer knowledge preferred.
