About The Position

Join our amazing RRD/PCA printing team in Timonium, Maryland Close to Light Rail. Applicants with digital press or HP indigo experience please apply! KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Works with a PC to electronically manage image files. Reviews plate image on the monitor for masthead and any obvious image errors such as margin errors, missing color, pagination errors, etc. Loads and images plates using the current plate imaging machines. Removes plate from processing line upon completion – checks plate for any obvious plate defects. Loads plate into the plate bender and bends the plate. Attaches slip sheet to plate after bending and places on cart in order – delivers plate carts to press. 40% Makes necessary adjustments at the RIP to the reproduction curve and register. Unpacks large pallets of printing plates (up to approximately 5.5’ x 3.75’ x .016”), recycles and/or disposes of all packing materials. Communicates missing materials to the appropriate personnel. 20% May handle responsibilities for the production schedules, reprints due to shortages, damages, and printing errors. May be responsible for backing up other departments as needed. 20% Maintains accurate records for work completed, preventative maintenance and other special projects. Replenishes the processor chemistry as needed. Performs schedule preventive maintenance on plate benders, plate processor and plate imaging equipment noting any defects and communicating those defects. 10% Proficient at performing basic Quality Assurance job responsibilities including but not limited to checking CIV’s, boxing samples, documenting the shipping of samples and pulling color samples for color watch folders. Handle revisions as needed. Other duties as assigned. 10%

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 0 - 2 years Relevant Experience (Required)
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and document data.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software, Excel spreadsheet software and Microsoft word processing software.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with their team, leadership, other departments and may communicate with external departments. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other associates.
  • Must be able to prioritize and make decisions with minimal supervision.
