About The Position

General Summary Following the rules and regulations of the Joint Review Commission and under the direction of a Certified Radiographer, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level, requiring and maintaining indirect supervision. Performs a variety of radiologic procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative to use the proper methods and technical skills to achieve quality examinations. Assumes responsibility for the radiographic procedures within the designated work area. Essential Functions: Transfers and positions patients. Provides immobilization devices as needed. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Selects and operates equipment in order to produce quality radiographic images. Common Expectations: Provides radiation protection to patients and to self in accordance with current radiation safety standards. Practices sterile technique when necessary. Maintains a sanitary environment. Follows the principles of universal precautions for potentially infectious body substances. Maintains the safety of patients and visitors at all times. Uses all computer systems in the manner for which they are intended. Follows departmental procedures for documenting patient activity within the computer systems. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Must be a student within an accredited program in radiologic technology, who has maintained satisfactory completion of all clinical competency requirements throughout the radiologic technology program.
