Job Summary The Manager – Imaging Services is responsible for the operational management, coordination, and supervision of diagnostic imaging services within the facility. This role oversees daily departmental operations, staff performance, patient care delivery, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives across imaging modalities. The Manager ensures imaging services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements while supporting high-quality patient care and physician satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging modalities and clinical workflows.
  • Understanding of regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to imaging services.
  • Leadership and team management skills to guide and develop staff.
  • Strong organizational and operational management abilities.
  • Ability to analyze workflow, productivity, and quality data.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of imaging equipment operations and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of PACS and RIS systems
  • Ability to respond effectively to operational challenges and shifting priorities.
  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or a related imaging discipline. (Required)
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS). (Required upon hire)
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board. (Required upon hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS). (Required upon hire or within facility-specified timeframe)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist if required by the state of practice. (May be required – facility specific)
  • Five (5) or more years of clinical imaging experience. (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Radiologic Sciences, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Two (2) or more years of leadership or supervisory experience in an imaging or radiology department. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Manages daily operational activities of the imaging department to ensure efficient patient flow, timely service delivery, and high-quality patient care.
  • Coordinates imaging services with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to support diagnostic and patient care needs.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing coverage and workload distribution based on patient volume and operational demands.
  • Monitors departmental productivity, service utilization, and operational performance metrics.
  • Oversees PACS workflows to resolve delays and maintain efficiency. Supports the PACS Administrator in covering all shifts inClarification on Role Requirements and Structurecluding on-call needs.
  • Supervises, coaches, and evaluates imaging department staff, including technologists and support personnel.
  • Participates in recruitment, hiring, orientation, and ongoing professional development of staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and addresses performance issues in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Promotes a collaborative team environment that supports employee engagement and professional growth.
  • Maintains knowledge of imaging modalities and ensures adherence to imaging protocols and patient safety standards.
  • May perform imaging procedures within credentialed modality as needed to support operational demands or complex cases.
  • Ensures proper operation, maintenance, and quality control of imaging equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards related to imaging services.
  • Supports departmental participation in quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors safety practices including radiation safety and environment of care standards.
  • Assists with department budgeting, cost control, and supply management.
  • Monitors equipment maintenance, repair status, and capital equipment needs.
  • Ensures effective use of departmental resources to support operational efficiency.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, clinical staff, leadership, and external partners to support departmental goals.
  • Participates in hospital committees, operational meetings, and quality initiatives related to imaging services.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
