About The Position

The Imaging Clerk is responsible for completion of clerical duties, facilitates office workflow and assists the customers/ physicians of the Imaging department. This position involves greeting and assisting customers, answering telephone calls, distributing patient preps, and preparing correspondence for physician offices. The Imaging Clerk also handles the import of mammography films, maintains office supplies, and ensures the work station is in optimum condition.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic Office Equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clerical experience.
  • Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists all customers as needed.
  • Provides direction to customers when needed.
  • Answers the telephone using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Assists with distribution of patient preps and screenings.
  • Places courtesy calls to patients when needed.
  • Prepares all correspondence for physician offices and other institutions as needed.
  • Prepares and obtains necessary release forms.
  • Burns CDs and prints/copies radiologic images.
  • Faxes reports to physician offices.
  • Assists physicians and other staff with HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
  • Facilitates internal communication with various departments as needed.
  • Delivers and retrieves requests from technologist/radiologist office/reading room/work area.
  • Delivers imaging department mail.
  • Directs phone calls to appropriate location.
  • Maintains work station in optimum condition.
  • Assures adequate office supplies are maintained.
  • Reports any necessary malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Implements downtime procedure when necessary.
  • Receives and imports outside mammography for interpretation by radiologist.
  • Maintains critical results/call reports work list in PAC's system.
  • Contacts order physician with results.
  • Attends department meetings or reviews minutes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
