About The Position

The Imaging Assistant position at Advocate Trinity Hospital is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, primarily working evenings from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend required. This role is crucial in supporting the radiology department by assisting technologists with various procedures, preparing and transporting patients, and ensuring efficient patient flow. Responsibilities also include administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing data entry in Cerner Radnet, and scheduling. The assistant is expected to maintain a positive relationship with patients, physicians, and colleagues, and contribute to improving customer satisfaction and departmental quality and productivity. Requirements

High School Graduate.
Good interpersonal skills.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of computers.
CPR Certification.
Ability to lift and/or move patients, heavy lifting according to DOL standards.
Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week, including weekends.
Ability to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Prior experience with various age groups is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists the technologist with special procedures, localizations, and stereotatic biopsy. CT guided biopsy and US guided biopsy.
Participates in the associate satisfaction survey.
Prepare patients for their exam. Assists in changing patients, verifying physician’s orders, obtaining histories / referrals if needed, explains procedure, when applicable assists patients to exam room.
Transport patients to and from ER.
Assist technologist with difficult patients, portable procedures, maneuvering carts and positioning patients.
Address and resolve customer complaints if within the associate’s capabilities.
Completes all annual mandatory computer based training by system deadline.
Uses ADIET with every patient encounter.
Submit ideas for improving customer satisfaction.
Works with the technologist to ensure that patients and customers needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintains a positive relationship with all customers i.e. patients, other departments, Physicians and fellow associates.
Answers phones in a professional manner, identifies department and self to caller. Takes accurate messages.
Accurately use the paging system and perfect serve to communicate results.
Accurately completes all data entries in the Cerner Radnet.
Schedules patients through the radiology information system, evaluating daily schedules for optimum patient flow.
Prepares necessary supplies prior to exam.
Stock exam rooms, maintains order and cleanliness of work areas.
Demonstrates safety in all areas, electrical, environmental, radiation etc.
Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining a continued awareness of safety hazards.
Submits ideas for improving quality in department.
Participates in departmental recognition and socialization activities.
Attends department staff meetings.

Acts as a liaison between Technologist, Physician and patients.
