About The Position

This position is ECB status, requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department and offering limited benefit offerings. The Imaging Assistant provides support to the Staff Technologist by assisting with accessioning and documentation of exam orders, positioning of patients, and performing related functions and clerical duties. The role involves independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. The Imaging Assistant works directly with patients and/or customers, as well as internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff. This position has been identified as a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA), which allows employers to lawfully refuse to hire applicants or discipline employees in safety-sensitive jobs if they test positive for marijuana, even with a valid medical marijuana license.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0 - 6 months related experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access as might be used in the preparation of correspondence and reports.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to technologist in positioning and immobilizing the patient during radiographic examinations, either in the radiology department or at the patient's bedside utilizing basic skills and knowledge.
  • Accessions exam orders to properly reflect the procedure performed using the electronic medical record.
  • Performs procedural tasks such as CR processing, patient transporting, related clerical duties and special assignments when necessary.
  • Utilizes hospital/department communications, telephone, computer, and paging appropriately.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers and hospital personnel.
  • Highly motivated in providing excellent customer service to all.
  • Supports department/hospital goals through PI and educational activities.
  • Attends mandatory in-service and meets department educational standards.
  • Modifies behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and department requirements.
