About The Position

The Imaging Assistant at Portsmouth Regional Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the Imaging Department by assisting technologists across various modalities, including X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology. This position focuses on ensuring high-quality patient care, facilitating communication within the department, and managing clerical tasks to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Experience in a hospital environment is a plus.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assist technologists in all imaging modalities including X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology.
  • Prepare and screen patients prior to imaging exams or procedures.
  • Verify patient identity and assist with patient mobility and positioning in the exam room.
  • Escort patients to the correct locations for imaging studies.
  • Facilitate communication between the Imaging Services Department and medical staff or other hospital departments.
  • Ensure quality care to patients by adhering to policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide clerical services in the department as needed.
  • Proactively address patient satisfaction issues related to delays.
  • Review written orders and accurately transcribe them into the electronic medical record system.
