About The Position

The Imaging Assistant at Sharp Grossmont Hospital is responsible for assisting with completing Imaging Center procedures, including the transportation and monitoring of patients to and from, as well as during Imaging Center procedures. This part-time position requires variable shifts and includes weekend requirements as needed. The role is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW, and employees are required to join the union within 31 days of hire. The position was initially posted to ratified SEIU members and is now open to internal and external candidates.

Requirements

• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - REQUIRED
• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
• 1 Year experience with patient care.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of body mechanics for safe transfer of patient and self.

Responsibilities

• Assist with completing Imaging Center procedures including transportation and monitoring patients.
• Process radiographic film using proper safelight technique.
• Print images and make duplicates of films and/or digital images.
• Display images on alternators for radiologist's interpretation.
• Combine completed procedures with patient's Imaging jacket accurately.
• Scan appropriate patient documents into Synapse.
• Greet and escort patients to Imaging Center rooms.
• Observe patients during procedures and document changes in condition.
• Transfer specimens with proper identification.
• Provide technical assistance by developing radiographs and assisting with patient movement.
• Communicate patient status with nursing and Imaging staff.
• Participate in department meetings and focus groups.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and attitude towards patients and coworkers.
• Provide appropriate mode of transport for patients.
• Perform general clerical duties and utilize IDXRAD tracking steps.
• Assist coworkers with tasks and maintain a safe work environment.
• Effectively manage workload and utilize free time for additional tasks.
