About The Position

The Imaging Assistant plays a crucial role in the Medical Imaging Team, providing support to clinical staff and ensuring quality care for patients. This PRN position involves transporting patients, assisting with procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized environment in the Radiology Department. The role requires effective communication and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Self-motivated and compassionate with strong interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience as a radiology aide or in a similar hospital setting is helpful.
• Knowledge of proper body mechanics for lifting and moving patients.
• Competency in patient transportation and care for all age groups from neonatal to geriatric.
• Basic first aid knowledge and procedures.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Current BLS certification or completion of the course within 30 days of hire.

• Experience in a hospital setting or as a radiology aide.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from the Radiology Department using appropriate modes of transportation based on their condition.
• Assist technologists with procedures as needed.
• Help with patient transfers and positioning for exams.
• Screen, educate, and prepare patients for procedures, including assisting with questionnaires.
• Prepare oral and IV contrast as required for imaging procedures.
• Clean and stock exam rooms and equipment before procedures.
• Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
• Document exams and keep patients and family members informed about exam progress.
• Perform vital signs when necessary.
• Assist technologists in submitting exams to radiologists and managing teleradiology.
