About The Position

The Imager works in Pre-Press operations, with primary focus on Imaging Screens using the Direct-to-Screen (DTS) machine. Other Pre-Press tasks such as screen coating, screen taping, screen cleaning, and ink preparation will be performed as needed. Employees may specialize in one task, or be cross trained to work across multiple areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to spot defects and ensure quality in imaged screens.
  • Efficiently manage tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Ability to read and follow verbal instructions.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn machine software as needed.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate equipment such as pressure washers, vacuum systems, and other equipment in the work area.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and shades.
  • Ability to stoop, reach, handle, and manipulate objects and materials.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a prepress or printing environment is a plus, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Use assigned computer to download art files to the Direct-to-Screen machine’s software.
  • Use DTS machine to produce screens as needed per schedule.
  • Develop Imaged screens with water using automatic Eco-Rinse machine.
  • Inspect imaged screens for defects vs artwork, making corrections as needed.
  • Tape off appropriate areas on screen and organize all screens by work order for the supervisor or stager to take.
  • Coat screens with emulsion using automatic coating machine.
  • Assist cleaning screens as needed, including manually cleaned Number screens or screens ran through Automatic Reclaim Machine.
  • Assist ink department as needed, including mixing ink.
  • Communicate art issues or art file needs with Art Department and Decoration Leadership as needed.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
