We offer flexible schedules and remote opportunities. We are seeking an Image Analysis Scientist to support the R&D team with image analysis by improving software pipelines and workflows. This position will assist with medical image algorithm development and analysis, help train and evaluate machine learning models, and contribute to code optimization and reproducibility across projects.

  • Work with the R&D and Software Development teams to implement image processing solutions for MERIT customized applications
  • Complete work assignments and tasks on time, with quality and has the ability to anticipate problem areas in advance
  • Understand the MERIT proprietary products and conduct of clinical trials in sufficient detail to be able to adequately discuss development with operations and validation team members
  • Use relevant software development tools (e.g., Microsoft visual studio, DevOps, Git, MatLab, or other specialized tools) for algorithm development and programming
  • Maintains complete documentation of the development process as required by standard conventions. Maintaining records of all changes made to the software, all bugs and bug patches, etc.
  • Apply machine learning techniques, as applicable, to improve accuracy and efficiency of image analysis
  • Run, monitor, and improve existing image processing workflows and model training pipelines.
  • Optimize code for speed, clarity, and reproducibility.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of datasets to evaluate algorithm performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrates flexibility in approach and ideas, responds positively and supports changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility and assignments.
  • Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships and communications with all employees, participating effectively as a team member

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Proficient in Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Exposure to scientific computing and machine learning libraries such as o NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, scikit-learn
  • Deep Learning Frameworks: PyTorch or Tensorflow (experience with both preferred)
  • Image Processing Libraries: OpenCV, SimpleITK, or ITK
  • Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks (imping), Matplotlib, and related tools for rapid prototyping, data visualization, and exploratory analysis in image processing and/or machine learning workflows.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with an eagerness to learn and ask good questions.
  • Ability to document work clearly and communicate findings in a concise manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to follow direction, assess company needs and work independently. Computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office software, MatLab, Python or other commonly used languages in image analysis, and ability to learn company specific software. Project a professional attitude and image appropriate for the work environment.Ability to lead and contribute in a team environment. Oral and written communication is clear, concise, and effective.
