About The Position

This position is located in United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Location Support Staff in Ames, IA. In this position, you will lead the Visual Services staff and perform a wide variety of graphic design duties to pictorially and graphically illustrate research and regulatory activities in several scientific fields including, but not limited to, veterinary medicine, pathology, microbiology, immunology, physiology, molecular biology, and computational biology.

Requirements

• You must be a US Citizen or US National.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
• Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
• Direct Deposit: Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
• Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.

• Experience developing original designs for outreach activities or social media.
• Creating flyers, presentations, or promotional videos.
• Utilizing graphic design editing software to create or prepare visual materials.

Responsibilities

• Executes visual presentations utilizing a high degree of graphic design abilities to plan perspectives, colors, composition, typography, illustration and proportions where they must be accurately depicted.
• Assists in audio visual setup and support for auditorium and meeting room presentations.
• As photographer, arranges art direction of photo shoots.
• Uses creativity to produce internal and external imagery to communicate research and results.
• Selects appropriate software applications for desired end result.
• Researches and recommends to supervisor sources of equipment, materials and supplies needed to accomplish various work orders.
