About The Position

The IHS Assistant-Gateway plays a crucial role in supporting the Integrated Health Services team by coordinating patient care opportunities. This position involves scheduling appointments, assisting patients in exam rooms, and providing language interpretation services to ensure effective communication between patients and healthcare providers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Bilingual and able to interpret for Spanish-speaking patients.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of Medical Assisting Certificate program or Associate Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Healthcare or related field
• Experience working in a healthcare setting
• Certified Interpreter

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate care for patients to consult with a registered dietitian and/or behavioral health consultant.
• Assist with rescheduling patients as needed.
• Identify patients who may benefit from integrated health services prior to medical provider visits.
• Provide interpretation services for limited English proficient patients to ensure accurate communication.
• Coordinate appointments between integrated health services team and medical team.
• Prepare patients for visits by bringing them to the room and providing pre-visit screeners.
• Assist with integrated health service special projects and manage tasks within the electronic health record.
• Comply with all applicable infection control and safety procedures.
• Take and answer all voicemail and written messages in a timely manner.
• Interact politely and as a team player with all employees and the public.
