Our Missions Systems business is seeking enthusiastic, highly motivated, and innovative Ignition Developer to join our team. This role will support and expand our connected factory and digital initiatives across our aerospace & defense manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong cross-functional collaboration skills to lead and support Ignition development, deployment, and sustainment across Mission Systems. In this role, you will build and sustain Ignition-based applications that provide real-time insights into production equipment, improve manufacturing efficiency, and support mission-critical traceability and compliance. This is a remote based position however, proximity to either our Largo, Florida or Cedar Rapids, Iowa sites is a plus.

  • Develop Ignition Perspective, dashboards, HMIs, analytics, and alarms.
  • Integrate PLCs, CNCs, robotics, torque controllers, and other industrial equipment into the Ignition platform.
  • Sustainment: support existing Ignition applications, troubleshoot connectivity and scripting issues, and develop upgrades/enhancements.
  • Configure and manage data structures, tags, historian storage, MQTT/OPC-UA communications, and equipment connectivity.
  • Build user-friendly operator interfaces and visualizations that support production workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate manufacturing needs into scalable software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide documentation, standard operating procedures, and basic user training.
  • Ability to travel 15% to 20% as needed.
  • Typically requires: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, or similar experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Ignition development (Perspective, Python, Jython, Scripting).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Hands-on experience with OPC-UA, MQTT, or similar industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience connecting to PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred)
  • Understanding of automation systems (robots, vision systems, PLCs, etc.) deployment and integration
  • Familiarity with SQL databases (querying, table structure, stored procedures).
  • Ability to design clear, intuitive industrial interfaces.
  • Experience with Agile Project Management tools and methodologies
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on user experience and sustainment.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ignition gold certification or willingness to achieve within first year

  • Extensive knowledge of scripting and dashboarding
  • Experience building APIs and creating web applications
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 key concepts – connectivity, data collection, IIoT, systems integration, AI, machine learning, ISA-95, Pub/Sub.
  • Experience using industrial communication protocols such as Modbus/TCP, MQTT, OPC/UA, SECS/GEM, etc.
  • Strong communication, project management and collaboration skills; experience working across organization boundaries
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • Proximity to Largo, Florida or Cedar Rapids, Iowa is a plus.
