FLSA StatusExemptJob Role SummaryThe assistant program director is a professional who supports the program director/section chief in overseeing the operations and goals of the Academic Services Division.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Collaborate with the section chief to coordinate daily activities, ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies, and monitor the achievement of objectives. Possesses knowledge of relevant regulations and quality standards Assisting section chief with planning and implementing strategies, projects, and initiatives Demonstrate excellent organizational and leadership skills, proficiently uses MS Office and relational databases, and possess strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Monitor progress, objectives, budget, and compliance of the production. Manage the production schedule, logistics, and daily in-service attendance records. Supervise and coordinate staffing in continuing education. Maintain order, safety, and communication. Assists in the preparation and implementation of the hiring academy. Formulates, implements, and evaluates each of the quarterly continuing education programs offered to the service and its partners. Provides leadership and stewardship of each of the quarterly continuing education programs. Disseminates pertinent information regarding the Academic Services Division to all IEMS staff. Plan, implement and evaluate for improvement the two (2) year cycle of continuing education. Lead instructor for CoAEMSP purposes. Teaches in continuing education programs, EMT and paramedic class. Disciplines as necessary, EMT, paramedic, and Operational personnel in class or in continuing education programs within Academic Services. Able to work seamlessly in usual Microsoft products. Regularly assess program goals and learning domains, identify and respond to changes in the needs and or expectations of its community of interests. Working with the section chief to coordinate and supervise daily operations within Academic Services. Assist with staffing responsibilities (hiring, training, evaluating etc.) as needed for the division Assist in budgeting and monitoring expenses. Maintain scheduling of events and represent the company when needed. Create reports and submit them to the section chief or other member of IEMS leadership. Fulfill duties as assigned by the section chief Assist with growing the IEMS training and educational offerings for both internal staff members and external customers seeking EMS education. Associated Job Duties Attend advisory meetings to meet local, state, and national accreditation requirements. Act as chief disciplinarian of staff, students and members of Operations and its partners in continuing education course work. Perform other job duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Masters preferred. To be confirmed by parchment document.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience as an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic
  • Minimum of two (2) years as an instructor in an CoAEMSP program.
  • Previous supervisory experience, academic preparation in management functions of Emergency Medical Services required.
  • Indiana Paramedic license
  • Nationally Registered Paramedic
  • Valid Indiana Driver’s license- must meet and remain in compliance with IEMS driver eligibility policy.
  • American Heart Association BLS instructor
  • American Heart Association ACLS instructor
  • Indiana Primary Instructor certification
  • PHTLS instructor
  • Holds NIMS 100,200,300, 400, 700, 800
  • Continuing education to maintain all required certifications.
  • Valid Indiana Driver’s license- must meet and remain in compliance with IEMS driver eligibility policy.
  • Read write and speak the English language
  • Assess and communicate information in a clear and precise manner.
  • Present educational material in a one-on-one format, small group, and large audience settings.
  • Present educational content, if called upon, remotely using available current technology to deliver content in a hybrid model of educational delivery
  • Use age-appropriate communication skills.
  • Safely operate an emergency vehicle in all weather conditions
  • Successful candidates need the requisite knowledge, skill, and ability to teach the content across the age continuum.
  • Current national curricula, national accreditation, national registrations national reregistration and the requirements for state certification or licensure and recertification or licensure.
  • Hospital, and service procedures, policies, and laws governing administrative, emergency pre-hospital care and student rights.
  • Able to perform at the level of a Paramedic as described in the IEM Paramedic job description.
  • Lift up to 125 lbs equally distributed and up to 250 lbs with assistance.
  • Safely operate a certified ALS vehicle.
  • Complete EPCR reports as required.
  • Teach EMT and Paramedic students
  • Provide continuing educational programs for all EMT and Paramedic students within IEMS and our partners on a continuous basis.
  • Ensure Academic Services provides a premier program for training all novice students in both EMT certifications and paramedic science programs.
  • Maintain patient, family, student, and employee confidentiality.
  • Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines and regulations.
  • Must exercise care and demonstrate pre-hospital care skills.
  • Make decisions without immediate available Command assistance.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and professionalism.
  • Prioritize continuously and make decisions that affect current trends and support current hospital initiatives.
