About The Position

Chevron is accepting online applications for the Instrumentation, Electrical, Analyzer Mechanic position in Salt Lake City, Utah through October 13th, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. (MT). The position requires routine collaboration with Maintenance crafts, Reliability, Operations, and Engineering teams. The typical schedule is a 4x10 dayshift pattern (M-Th or T-F), which may change according to work demands. Occasional shift work and work outside regular hours can be required. The role involves outdoor work throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a 2-year technical degree in Instrumentation/Electrical Technology, or an Electrical Journeyman's license, or at least five years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain a variety of instruments and control systems, such as pressure gauges, flow meters, temperature sensors, level transmitters, control valves, and analytical instruments.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on instrument and electrical systems to support performance and reliability.
  • Perform instrument loop checks, calibration, and validation in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Maintain familiarity with state and federal EPA regulations, along with state and local air district regulations.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with the maintenance team and operations personnel to reduce downtime.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Troubleshoot electronic, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic industrial instrumentation systems.
  • Read and interpret instrument PID diagrams, blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Complete tasks accurately and efficiently, following protocols, regulations, safety guidelines, and standards.
  • Operate test equipment such as multimeters, signal generators, and communicators.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot sample conditioning systems.
  • Analyze complex issues and apply problem-solving skills to develop recommendations in both instrumentation and electrical tasks.
  • Maintain PLCs, DCS, stand-alone controllers, and associated I/O modules.
  • Document and keep records of instrument maintenance, repairs, and calibration activities.
  • Stay informed about technologies and industry trends in instrument and control systems and suggest operational improvements.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues and contractors in addressing complex problems.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to instrumentation, control, and electrical systems.
  • Work with low and medium voltage distribution systems.
  • Handle 480 and 4160 three-phase systems and SMART overloads for motor control circuit troubleshooting.
  • Manage and troubleshoot 120-, 240-, 480-, and 4160-volt motor control circuits.
  • Respond to after-hours emergency requests when necessary.
