About The Position

This position serves as the Iowa Department of Corrections Assistant Deputy Director of Institution Operations. Responsible for all DOC's institution security and operations. Develops, modifies, monitors, and enforces security plans, objectives, performance measures, policies and procedures, audits quality assurance statewide. Identifies and determines security operational impacts with focus on fidelity, staffing requirements, and financial and technical resources. Provides assistance to the Executive Team in the organizational development of security operations as it relates to staffing patterns/analysis, creation/ development of positions, job descriptions, functional development of institutional and organizational operations and technical assistance with future planning and strategic plans. Leads and directs the institution Security Audit and Vulnerability Assessment teams along with the Field Training Officer training program.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to six years of full-time management-level work in finance, human resources, engineering, law, social work, regulation, data processing, or program research or evaluation.
  • Ten years of full-time management-level work experience in finance, human resources, engineering, law, social work, regulation, data processing, or program research or evaluation.
  • Six years of full-time management-level work experience in finance, human resources, engineering, law, social work, regulation, data processing, or program research or evaluation, and a combination of a total of four years of education and full-time experience.
  • Four years of full-time management-level work experience in finance, human resources, engineering, law, social work, regulation, data processing, or program research or evaluation, and a combination of a total of four years of education and full-time experience, and a combination of a total of two years of graduate-level education and full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Public Service Manager 1 or comparable specific management-level position.
