The IDMS Generalist will perform a variety of technical duties in assisting in the implementation, maintenance and support for document imaging. Provide support required by the college community, faculty and administrative users with database and software. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is mid-level position within the Integration and Data Management Solutions (IDMS) department. Employees within the class are distinguished by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including supporting document imaging, retrieving accurate and timely data, IDMS document archiving, assisting college staff with accessing COLLEAGUE, SoftDocs, Blackboard (LMS), 25Live, Curriculog/ Acculog, and backup supportof other IDMS tasks. Employees at this level receive a minimum amount of assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives general supervision from the Director of Integration and Data Management Solutions (IDMS). Curriculum and continuing education course/section creation, deletion, and updates. Curriculum and continuing education schedule development/maintenance. Curriculum and continuing education room scheduling creation, deletion, and updates. Catalog and program updates using catalog software. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs, including those involving database management, database implementation, computer systems operations, document imaging administration and support, and ERP applications implementation, administration, and support. Develop and/or assist in developing and maintaining document imaging workflows. Establish priorities for work assignments. Participate as a member of project teams. Assist in providing or coordinating user training, including assisting and training users with document imaging, LMS, and ERP application interfaces. Provide technical assistance to ERP system application interface users. Provide technical support and assistance to Blackboard (LMS) interface users. Perform corrective actions when problems with software interfaces are encountered. Assist in the tracking of documents within Softdocs. Assist with purging system files and viewing system logs. Provide backup support for general IDMS departmental tasks. Provide and/or support faculty consultations, training workshops, and other professional development opportunities and resources related to the LMS and educational technologies to promote excellence in online instructional materials. Provide technical support to faculty for LMS features as well as all campus supported educational technologies. Answer questions, instruct, and direct users to resources needed to sustain College and business operations. Work with other team members to respond to the Help Desk, to answer email and telephone requests for assistance with LMS access and issues, network login issues, and other technological issues related to supported technologies. Assist in developing and maintaining queries and reports for all areas of the college. Assist and train users with communication management. Administer and/or support the implementation and maintenance of Informer reports generated; create and maintain an automated reporting model. Some overnight travel is required. Other important duties and responsibilities Attending training for new updated systems and applications. Staying current with new trends and innovations in the field of Information Technology/Systems. Attend staff meetings, vendor demonstrations, and seminars as needed for information distribution/sharing. Attending and participating in professional group meetings. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products especially Access, Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of document imaging fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of relational database fundamentals.
  • Experience in retrieving, examining and analyzing data in various ways.
  • Working knowing of HTML, java, and web-based processing.
  • Computing fundamentals, operations, and programming theory and techniques

  • Effectively handle a work environment and conditions, which involve exposure to computer screens.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience with MICROSOFT office products, SQL, HTML, java, web-based computing, experience in data entry and retrieval using relational databases. Some programming experience is required. Minimum one year of experience in the database usage and retrieval.
  • Equivalent to an Associate degree from an accredited college with major course work in Computer Programming, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
