Under the protection of Correction Officers, our Identification Technicians perform a variety of clerical duties related to booking arrestees and inmates in the Hamilton County Jail Center. Job Summary: Gathers arrest and booking documentation, fingerprints, and mug shots. Processes incoming inmates and arrestees. Collects medical history during intake including DNA samples as required by law. Alerts Intake Officers of medical emergencies, injuries, claims by new arrestee, suicidal tendencies, or other pertinent information. Assists law enforcement community by accurately and completely gathering biometric data to assist in the positive identification of an individual who has been arrested; Performs a variety of clerical tasks to assist with the efficient operation of the department (e.g. operate computer, prepares and mails form/documents, files, answers phones, etc.) Assists other Law Enforcement Agencies or other agencies or officials with fingerprint requests

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Must be at least 19 years of age, of good moral character
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving immoral character or any felony
  • Must submit to a criminal and personal background check
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language
  • Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with co-workers, supervisor, law enforcement agencies, and members of the public.
  • Ability to lift 10 – 20lbs and stand for extended periods of time (10 – 30 minutes)
  • Must have basic office skills – computer, copier, etc.
  • Must type a minimum of 30 wpm accurately
  • Must be able to analyze data in order to classify fingerprints

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service experience and the ability to professionally deal with difficult people at times.
